Australia Day in the Sutherland Shire 2022 is just around the corner and there is a lot happening around town despite current COVID restrictions. We've collated the best entertainment options for the day as per details courtesy of the Sutherland Shire Council.

Australia Day Events & Celebrations in the Sutherland Shire (2022)

BY THE RIVER

• Como: Light Display & Live Music at Como Pleasure Grounds - 3pm–10pm - Discover a new way to explore this beautiful parkland through a specially curated lighting experience. Local musicians in also performing in the park.
• Como: Free entry to Como Swimming Complex - 1pm–6pm
• Woronora: Light Display & Live Music at Burnum Burnum Sanctuary - 3pm–10pm - Discover a new way to explore this beautiful parkland through a specially curated lighting experience. Local musicians also performing in the park.

IN THE PARK

• Engadine: Cinema Under the Stars and live music at Cooper Street Reserve - from 5pm - Bring the family to this free outdoor movie event. The popcorn's on us! 5.30pm: 'Sing!' (G), 7.00pm: 'Dolittle' (PG).
• Gymea: Live music at Hazelhurst Arts Centre - 12.30pm–2.30pm - Come along to the special marquee and enjoy a free musical soiree in the grounds of Hazelhurst.
• Gymea: Citizenship Ceremony and Australia Day Awards at Hazelhurst Arts Centre Gardens - 10am–11am.

IN THE POOLS

• Caringbah: Pool party with a DJ at Caringbah Leisure Centre- 10am–2pm - Free pool entry.
• Engadine: Pool party with at DJ at Engadine Leisure Centre - 10am–2pm - Free pool entry.
• Sutherland: Pool party with a DJ at Sutherland Leisure Centre - 10am–2pm - Free pool entry.

BY THE BEACH

• Cronulla: Live music and roving performers at Dunningham Park, Gunnamatta Park Amphitheatre - 11am–4pm - Relax to the sounds of summer. Our roving brass ensemble will be wandering from the Plaza to the beach during the day.

Tuesday 25 January 2022

• Woronora: Sunset Cultural Ceremony at Burnum Burnum Sanctuary - 5pm–6pm - Come together as our Aboriginal elders share stories and culture. Enjoy traditional dance, music and learn through the yarning circle.

Tuesday 25 January - Sunday 30 January 2022

• Como: Light display at Como Pleasure Grounds - 6pm–10pm - Rediscover the Pleasure Grounds through a specially curated light display. Wander and enjoy a summer's evening with the family.
• Woronora: Light display at Burnum Burnum Sanctuary - 6pm–10pm.
