Burning Palms loop from Garawarra is a 8.2km, grade 4 circuit hike, located in Royal National Park, New South Wales. The hike should take approximately 3 hrs 30 mins to complete.

Hike Summary

This walk explores a variety of environments through the Royal National Park.

From the old Garawarra farm the walk heads along the Squeeze Way then down a ridge to Burning Palms. There is an optional side trip out to Figure Eight pools.

As beautiful as the figure 8 pools are, save yourself the heartache; check the tides before you go. And even if it is low tide, check there are no dangerous surf conditions forecast, like a big swell.

Burning Palms offers a nice beach and a great place to rest. From the beach the walk heads back up to Garawarra via an open grassy ridge then through a nice shady forest track.

Whilst most people stick to the coastal paths, this loop track will take you through the wilds of the park, into dense jungle with hanging vines, Cabbage palms and trees with fairytale-like root buttresses.
