Who doesn't love a good old fashioned slice of pizza? One with the perfect crisp base and stringy mozzarella on top that creates an insta-worthy cheese pull! Hungry yet?
If you and the family are searching for the Shire's best pizza, look no further than L'oro Di Napoli, which literally translates to 'The gold of Naples'. Now that sounds impressive!
In just one year since opening, L’oro di Napoli, has already made a name for itself. Locals and Shire visitors have been hitting up Sylvania to feast on their famous Neapolitan meals.
Founder, Antonio Viscovo, originated from Napoli where the first ever pizza slice was created. He personally loves the traditional Italian recipe and style.
When he moved to Australia in 2013, he fantasised about building his very own pizza place, complete with an authentic original wood-fired oven.
“Nothing beats the authentic style and flavour of Napoli pizza. I wish to share the genuine taste of Italy with the Shire community, whom I have loved throughout my stay here. L’oro di Napoli exemplifies the true, organic flavour of the original Neapolitan pizza.”
Antonio acknowledges that what separates his authentic pizzas from imposters is the rustic smoky flavour and charred presentation that tastes just like his Nonna’s.
"Baking the pizza in a wood-fired oven gives it that genuine Italian taste. Nothing compares to it"
The name L’oro di Napoli is witty wordplay and can be interpreted two ways, either gold and the people or family of Napoli. Oro or the Gold of Napoli refers to the precious shiny yellow metal or golden cheese and pizza crust.
Could it mean the very thing that Naples is most famous for? Loro, however, means people and family, which together builds a community.
In establishing the Italian pizzeria, Antonio wanted to give the Sutherland Shire community and a piece of his Italian homeland.
“L’oro di Napoli gives justice to the traditional Neapolitan pizza recipe. It is the perfect place to unwind and savour true Italian flavour with your friends, colleagues, families, and loved ones.”
There is an ongoing debate about whether pineapple belongs on pizza and, personally I think so, but in Italy, adding it as a topping is unheard of and, perhaps, frowned upon.
Unfortunately for all my fellow Hawaiian fans L’oro di Napoli does not have any pineapple pizza, although they make up for it with their traditional pizza and pasta menu.
When it comes to wood-fired pizza, the options are endless with Margherita, Prosciutto, Diavola, Vegetariana, Capriosca and more.
The unique restaurant in Sylvania also serves mouth-watering pasta such as Pappardelle Al Ragu, La Carbonara, Gnocchi Sorrentia, classic Lasagne and more.
Antipasti, Insalata and desserts are also available. Their Nutella pizza is a crowd pleaser and their Tiramisu, my personal favourite, is simply Deliziosa!
The restaurant does takeaway and is available on Uber Eats for those who are feeling more in the mood for Netflix and chill. View the full menu here.
The pizzas from L’oro di Napoli are truly an authentic piece of Naples. From its rustic appearance to its smokey flavour, the pizza will take you on a journey through Napoli.
Another customer summed it their experience when they said, “It tastes like Italy. With travel being tricky right now, it’s nice to have authentic Italian food so close to home.”
The use of traditional pizza toppings, crisp crust and fresh mozzarella create the ultimate pizza and you can expect nothing less at L’oro di Napoli.
Our pizzas, Insalata, antipasti, and other food items are ideally shared with friends and family. Our humble restaurant offers the perfect setting for hanging out, dinner dates, and celebrations,”
What are you waiting for? Book yourself and the family a table tonight and enjoy the authentic flavours or Naples. Head on down to Sylvania and enjoy a slice of Italy!
