The Dragons got off to a dream start thanks to an opening-set Cronulla error laying the platform for Mikaele Ravalawa to take in a Jacob Liddle cut-out and cross in the corner.

Nicho Hynes answered shortly after for the hosts pouring through a gaping hole off a right-side shift to fall over the line and tie it.

Off the back of a penalty, Tautau Moga finished off a left-side Dragons shift to wrestle the lead back for Ryan Carr’s men.

Briton Nikora steamed through another gap off Hynes’ hip shortly after to give the Sharks their first lead of the contest before an aerial Jesse Ramien effort off a well-placed Matt Moylan kick extended the Sharks lead beyond a converted try on the other side of the half-hour mark.

Camped on their own line and hit with several set restarts, the Dragons were unable to dispel the Sharks any longer with cult hero Tom Hazelton dropping under Hynes and slamming the ball down on the stroke of the half as the hosts took a 24-10 lead into the sheds.

Dragons fullback Tyrell Sloan breathed some life back into the contest by way of a 90-metre thriller to cut the Sharks lead back to eight early in the second half.

The visitors’ fightback was short-lived, however, with Ronaldo Mulitalo scoring his first off an eyes-up switch play moments later.

Will Kennedy was the next man to join the try-scorers’ party burning the Dragons left edge and dummying his way past the fullback to dive over in the corner.

Siosifa Talakai charged his way over on an unders line as the scoreboard hit 40 approaching the final 10 minutes.

The following set, the barnstorming centre found more space down the left edge and toed the ball forward for a chasing Mulitalo to secure his second.

The final try of the night came off Nikora taking advantage of another tattered defensive line for his second to bring up the side’s half-century.

Hynes scored a try, assisted on three others, and ran for 135 metres whilst Talakai scored a try, assisted on two others, and ran for 140 metres with four tackle breaks.

The Sharks are at CommBank Stadium next Thursday night to take on the Wests Tigers.
