You may have heard some rumbles on the grapevine of late, but we are very excited to announce that we are going LIVE!! Shire Talk have partnered with local radio station 2SSR to bring you the very latest in conversation and views from around the Shire.
Every Wednesday, evening from 6pm until 8pm, Corey Blake, our veteran Shire Talk TV presenter, will be taking to the airways to find out what the Shire is talking about.
Check out our Social Media as we post questions or comments that we’d like you to respond to. We’ll be reading out your comments, having a chat live on air with key members of the community and playing a range of up and coming musical talent.
Our regular slot starts on Wednesday 13th November with the following areas up for discussion.
Developers Propose Cronulla Hotel Development
Located on the island between Kingsway, Croydon and Abel Place, developers propose to build a 229 room, 6-star Pullman Resort Hotel with an 800-seat auditorium including restaurants and bars. Additionally, there will be up to 200 apartments in a separate building with roof top bar, pool and a car park with around 600 spaces.
Included within the proposal is the modification of surrounding roads to cope with the additional traffic. Plus, a large area for retail and commercial spaces, which will include a national supermarket.
The development will bring jobs to the area as well as additional tourism.
Our post on this, which was shared from another Shire group, attracted 114 comments, 86 reactions and 18 shares, all being varied and passionate.

A big topic of discussion has been horse racing and how the animals are treated. Corey will speak to an international jockey about this; but we welcome your comments on the subject, too. Listen out for the segment on the show and call in; or comment on our question post on social media.
As the Shire cricketer starts playing again, we’d love to hear what you think.
